It’s summertime in Austin – at least according to the school calendars. None of us are probably in any rush for it to actually FEEL like summer. It’s been really nice to have some cool breezes & temperate temperatures through May, right? It’s going to be an eventful time at Symmetry this summer. In anticipation, we thought we’d share a couple of things:
- Welcome to Physical Therapist Shelby Weigand! There is a new smiling face around Symmetry. Shelby Weigand has joined our staff part-time and will be seeing patients with us during the next couple of months as various other events unfold for our staff (see below). Shelby has fairly recently moved to Austin from the West Coast. Her background in orthopedic physical therapy and in Pilates for rehabilitation will fit in well with Symmetry’s hands-on and function-based approach to care. We’ve already learned some fun new Pilates-based tricks for treatment from Shelby, & look forward to sharing her expertise with our patients. Thanks for being here, Shelby!
- Congratulations, Brad! He is about to be a father of three! His wife is expecting in mid-June. We’re looking forward to meeting the new Baby Bevil and will be wishing Brad and his family well as he takes a bit of time off to celebrate the expansion of his family.
- Julie is off to Japan! In celebration of her 15th wedding anniversary, in addition to the successful completion of middle school for her oldest child & of 6th grade for her youngest, Julie & her clan are going to be taking a trip-of-a-lifetime to Japan in July. They’ll be visiting Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, & Hiroshima, along with several other smaller towns. There will be opportunities to meet the Japanese cousins (Grandma Kimie was born & raised in the Japanese province of Gunma), as well as to tour some of the most beautiful gardens and temples in Asia. Shelby, Lily, & Brad will all be helping to provide a seamless transition in care for Julie’s patients while she’s off gallivanting around. Thanks so much to all for letting her skedaddle for this awesome adventure!
- Happy Birthday to Dawn! Symmetry’s tireless Office Manager will be celebrating an important birthday in July. To mark the occasion, she’ll be out of the office on a tropical beach during the latter part of July. We’ll look forward to living vicariously through her photos and social media posts while she’s gone. A big thank-you in advance to Laurie for stepping up her Office Coordinator “game” by putting in some additional effort and hours while Dawn is gone!
Other good things will be happening around Symmetry this summer as well. For instance, Lily will be vacationing on the Left Coast to celebrate her neice’s upcoming birthday. We’ll be hosting a new Texas State Doctoral Student starting in late June. And of course, we’ll all be preparing for the advent of the new Texas legislation mentioned in our prior blog entry. We hope that this summer will be newsworthy in a good way for each of you too!
